Wylde Willow is a garden of National Significance, NZ Gardens Trust. See gardens.org.nz
Description: The delightful Abbots Creek meanders for a half kilometre through this 2.1ha country garden. Inviting pathways follow the picturesque creek through a woodland of hundreds of rhododendrons, maples and cornus under-planted with shade-loving perennials. Hundred-year-old willows stand guard filtering the sunlight. Encompassing the house, a cottage garden displays hundreds of old roses, many reaching tree tops before cascading downwards. Perennials fill the beds adding monochromatic colours to complement the roses.
The garden welcomes children.
Open: Wylde Willow Garden is open from September to May by appointment.
Admission: Admission charged.
